In addition to the special indoor multimedia installations, there is an outdoor 3D mural depicting the board game Ludo:
Ludo is not only a board game popular among Chinese children, but also a collective memory of many adults. Moving their pieces on a four-coloured game board, all players have the same goal in mind, which is to be the first to reach the finish line. The four pieces symbolise the four major objectives of the Correctional Services Department's (CSD's) community education, namely "safeguarding our country and home, leading a law-abiding and drug-free life as well as supporting offender rehabilitation", through which the ultimate goal of "educating a new generation of young people" can be reached.
The 3D mural with a special ludo theme can hardly be found anywhere. The four colours of the chess pieces, which are closely linked to the four major objectives of the CSD's community education, convey the intended messages clearly to visitors. Using a chess game as its theme, the mural implies that life resembles a chess game. Although we cannot control the random number from a dice roll, we can control how we move the pieces. This symbolises that we should think twice in every move in our real life.
Apart from conveying the above messages, the mural offers several interactive "check-in" spots, such as throwing a dice, making a heart gesture with "Captain Gor", the Rehabilitation Butterfly, etc. Being part of the mural, visitors can introspect the messages from the mural and appreciate the art work at the same time.
All in all, the CSD Community Education Experience Centre shuttles visitors through an immersive journey, through which visitors could have a new and unique experience by playing interactive projection games and taking photos at check-in spots. The centre is definitely a new attraction in town that provides community education for the new generation.
