Introduction

TThe Department has been proactively developing the "Smart Prison" protocol since 2018. Innovative technologies have been applied to modernise correctional facilities, with a view to enhancing management efficiency, the level of security of correctional institutions and the effectiveness of rehabilitation programmes.

Four major system categories, namely the "Security and Monitoring System", "Operation and Management System", "Persons In Custody Self-management System" and "Staff Capacity Enhancement System" are adopted for strategic development, with a view to "building a sustainable correctional system with an integrated operational protocol.
