Correctional officers stop an assault by persons in custody

     Correctional services officers stopped an assault by two persons in custody on another person in custody in Stanley Prison today (December 13).

     At about 7.38am, the officers noticed that two male persons in custody, aged 39 and 35, attacked another male person in custody, aged 40, with fists inside the reception office.  Both assailants were stopped immediately by the officers.

     The three persons in custody were sent to the centre hospital for medical examination and treatment. The victim sustained facial injury while the two assailants sustained minor injuries at hands.

     The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.

     The assailants were serving sentences for offences of trafficking in dangerous drugs, while the victim for an offence of conspiracy to defraud.
