Correctional Services officers stopped a person in custody from hurting himself in the High Court Cell Holding Unit yesterday (December 19).
At about 10.15am, the 38-year-old male person in custody suddenly turned emotional inside the High Court cell and banged his head against the wall. Officers at the scene immediately stopped him and called for reinforcements.
The person in custody sustained minor injury but remained conscious. He was subsequently transferred to a public hospital for further examination and treatment.
He was sentenced for an offence of false statement to Immigration Officer.
