Correctional officers intercept smuggling of suspected dangerous drugs into institution

     Correctional officers at Tai Lam Correctional Institution seized a small quantity of suspected dangerous drugs from hand-in clothing for a person in custody today (January 3).

     At about 4.55pm, the officers discovered a small packet of suspected white colour dangerous drugs concealed in hand-in clothing during a security check.

     The case has been reported to the Police for further investigation.

     A spokesperson for the department said, "The department takes every measure to stop the introduction of dangerous drugs or unauthorised articles into correctional institutions in order to maintain good order and discipline in a drug-free environment for all people in its custody."

     There have been three seizures of dangerous drugs to date this year.
