Correctional officers stop assault by person in custody

     Correctional Services officers stopped an assault by a person in custody on another person in custody in Stanley Prison yesterday (March 9).

     At about 10.24am, a 47-year-old male person in custody attacked a 38-year-old male person in custody with a table tennis bat when they were inside a dayroom. The officers at the scene immediately stopped and separated them.

     The victim sustained minor injury on his face and was treated in the centre hospital. He was subsequently transferred to a public hospital for further examination and returned to the institution after treatment. The assailant had no injury during the incident.

     The case has been reported to the Police.

     The assailant and the victim were sentenced to imprisonment for the offence of murder.
