A male person in custody in Ma Hang Prison died in a public hospital today (March 17).
The 61-year-old person in custody suffered from hypertension and required regular follow-up by the institutional medical officer. At about 9.55am, he felt chest pain during work and escorted to institutional hospital for treatment. Later, he lost conscious and was immediately referred to a public hospital. He was certified dead at 11.45am.
The case has been reported to the Police. A death inquest will be held by the Coroner's Court.
The person in custody was sentenced to imprisonment for an offence of theft.
