Correctional officers stop assault by persons in custody

     Correctional Services officers stopped two male persons in custody assaulting another person in custody in Tai Tam Gap Correctional Institution today (June 3).

     At 8.23am, an 18-year-old person in custody was attacked by another two 18-year-old persons in custody inside the dayroom. Duty officers immediately stopped the assault and separated them.

     The victim and the assailants were examined and treated in the centre hospital. The victim sustained minor forehead injury and was transferred to a public hospital for further treatment. The assailants had no injuries.

     The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.

     The two assailants are serving sentences for the offence of trafficking in dangerous drugs, while the victim is serving a sentence for the offence of robbery.
