A sick male remand person in custody from Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre died in a public hospital yesterday (June 8).
The 47-year-old person in custody was suffering from psychosis, hypertension, Hepatitis B and bacterial endocarditis before detention and had been transferred to public hospital many times for treatment of shortness of breath and chest discomfort during remand. He was sent to a public hospital for treatment of shortness of breath again on April 25. His condition deteriorated later and he was certified dead at 7.32pm yesterday.
The case has been reported to the Police. A death inquest will be held by the Coroner's Court.
The man was remanded for an offence of trafficking in dangerous drugs.
