Correctional Services officers stopped three male persons in custody from assaulting another male person in custody at Hei Ling Chau Correctional Institution today (July 8).
At 12.09pm, a 36-year-old person in custody was attacked by three other persons in custody, aged from 26 to 32, inside a dining hall. Officers at scene immediately stopped the assault and applied OC foam to subdue the assailants after warnings were ignored.
The four people were examined and treated at the centre hospital. The victim had injuries to his head, arm and back, and was transferred to a public hospital for further treatment. One of the assailants was slightly injured but did not need to go to a public hospital while the other two assailants did not sustain any injury.
The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.
The assailants were sentenced for offences of causing grievous bodily harm by dangerous driving and trafficking in a dangerous drug. The victim was sentenced for offences including trafficking in a dangerous drug.
