A person in custody attacked and injured a correctional officer at Stanley Prison today (August 6).
At 7.37am, the 37-year-old male person in custody suddenly splashed a mug of milk tea at an officer outside his cell during the morning meal issue. Another officer at the scene immediately ordered the person in custody to stop.
The officer who was attacked by the person in custody sustained minor injury to his chest and was sent to the centre hospital for medical examination and treatment.
The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.
The person in custody was sentenced for the offences of trafficking in dangerous drugs and common assault.
