Regarding individual media reports today (December 28) that a newly convicted male person in custody can keep his hairstyle, a spokesman for the Correctional Services Department (CSD) made the following clarification:
All persons in custody have to obey directions as regards hair cutting as may from time to time be prescribed. Except provided with justifiable reason like religious or health considerations, male person in custody has to cut his hair according to the directions. CSD will not exercise exemption on the basis of personal preference or image of individual person in custody.
