Correctional Services officers stopped an assault by a person in custody on another person in Pik Uk Prison today (April 22).
At 7.15am, a 28-year-old male foreign person in custody attacked another male local person in custody, aged 31, with his fist outside the clothing store. The officers at the scene immediately stopped the assault and removed the assailant away from the scene. However, the assailant turned emotional and OC foam was used to subdue him after warnings in vain.
Two officers and the assailant sustained injuries and were sent to centre hospital for medical examination and treatment by medical officer. The two officers were discharged after treatment at centre hospital while the assailant was transferred to a public hospital for further treatment.
The assault case by the person in custody has been reported to the Police.
The assailant was serving sentence for the offence of non-payment of fine and the victim was serving sentence for the offence of obtaining service by deception.
