A unique Father's Day

Tomorrow is Father's Day. For Ah Shing (false name), a 19-year-old trainee at a rehabilitation centre, his feeling towards father has at times been a mix of love and hate.

Ah Shing used to be rebellious and even lost his self-control on occasions because his father was too strict towards him. Ah Shing was later admitted into a rehabilitation centre for breaching a Probation Order.

During training at the centre Ah Shing learned self-discipline and now understands the importance of family. Taking the opportunity of Father's Day and the Dragon Boat Festival falling on two consecutive days, he made a rice dumpling for his father in return for his unfailing love, and that of his family, during his training period.

The Correctional Services Department (CSD) interviewed Ah Shing, his father and Officer (Rehabilitation Unit 1) of Lai Hang Rehabilitation Centre, Mr Wu Yu-shing, who helped them with their respective feelings, on how Ah Shing celebrated Father's Day. The story appears on CSD Youtube Channel www.youtube.com/user/hongkongcsd today (June 20) in video format.
