Correctional officers stop fighting between persons in custody

     Correctional officers at Hei Ling Chau Correctional Institution stopped a fight between two persons in custody today afternoon (October 26).

     At 12.35pm, a 33-year-old male person in custody fought with a 41-year-old male person in custody in the dining hall. An officer at the scene immediately stopped and separated the two men.

     During the incident, an officer sustained minor injury to his chest and finger. After receiving treatment from a medical officer at the centre hospital, he was referred to a public hospital for further treatment. The two persons in custody did not need to be sent to an outside hospital after examination.

     The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.

     The 33-year-old person in custody and the 41-year-old person in custody were sentenced for the offences of burglary and theft respectively.
