The Correctional Services Department (CSD) published its 2015 Annual Review today (May 31). The publication reviews the department's custody and rehabilitation work, which is aimed at protecting public safety and reducing crime.
The theme of the review, "Custody and Rehabilitation: Foundation for an Inclusive Society", highlights the department's work with an equal focus on "custody" and "rehabilitation". The CSD provides a safe custodial environment for the well-being of society, and puts in place appropriate rehabilitation programmes to help persons in custody reintegrate into society after release. In recent years, the department has also incorporated diverse community education programmes to help disseminate to members of society, particularly young people, the message that leading a law-abiding and drug-free life, as well as supporting offender rehabilitation, contributes to preventing crime and building an inclusive Hong Kong.
