Correctional officers intercepted the smuggling of suspected dangerous drugs into Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre by a person in custody yesterday (June 3).
At 4.20pm yesterday, while conducting a security check on a newly admitted 27-year-old male person in custody, the officers found a small plastic bag of white crystal-like substance suspected to be dangerous drugs from the pocket of his trousers.
The Correctional Services Department (CSD) immediately referred the case to the Police for further investigation.
A spokesperson for the CSD said, "The department takes every measure to stop the introduction of dangerous drugs into correctional institutions in order to maintain good order and discipline in a drug-free environment for all people in its custody."
The person in custody was sentenced to imprisonment for the offence of criminal intimidation.
