The Correctional Services Department (CSD) issued its 2017 Annual Review Electronic Version today (April 30). The publication reviews the department's custodial and rehabilitation work, which is aimed at protecting public safety and preventing crime. In addition to photographs and videos, animations are used for the first time.
The year 2017 marked the 35th anniversary of renaming of the Prisons Department as the CSD. The theme of the Annual Review, "Safe Custody and Rehabilitation for an Inclusive Society", signifies the change of the department's mission from merely performing a custodial role to placing dual emphasis on custody and rehabilitation. The CSD not only provides a safe and secure custodial environment for the protection of public safety, but also helps persons in custody rehabilitate through collaboration with community stakeholders and promotes law-abiding and inclusive values via community education.
Members of the public are welcome to visit the CSD's website at www.csd.gov.hk/annualreview/2017/web/en/ to view the Annual Review. Visitors may view the video clips of the chapters or the full report by scanning the QR codes.
