The Correctional Services Department (CSD) launched its 2020 Annual Review Electronic Version today (June 28), which provides a review of the challenges and achievements of correctional officers in the past year.
The theme of the annual review is "Breakthroughs and Innovations", highlighting the department's paradigm shift in meeting various challenges and setting a new direction for sustainable development. While the CSD commemorated its 100th anniversary in 2020, it also faced the enormous challenges posed by the COVID-19 epidemic and the need to accommodate a large number of people detained for riot-related offences. Despite the difficult times, correctional officers held fast to their duties relentlessly, took resolute law enforcement actions and carried out various anti-epidemic measures to ensure a safe and secure custodial environment, and made their best endeavours to help persons in custody rehabilitate. Moreover, the department has also been developing the "Smart Prison" with full vigour by introducing technologies to improve the working environment of correctional officers and enhance the institutional security level.
Members of the public are welcome to view the annual review on mobile phones or tablets by browsing the CSD's website at www.csd.gov.hk/annualreview/2020/web/en/index.html.
