Correctional officers stop fighting among persons in custody

Correctional officers at Hei Ling Chau Correctional Institution stopped a fight among persons in custody yesterday (November 11)

At 7.32pm yesterday, nine male persons in custody aged between 26 and 43 engaged in a fight inside a dormitory. Officers at the scene immediately stopped the fight and called for reinforcement.

During the incident, six persons in custody sustained injuries to their hands, face, legs, etc. respectively. They did not need to be sent to a public hospital after receiving medical examination and treatment by the institution Medical Officer. Three persons in custody did not sustain any injury.

The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.

The nine persons in custody were sentenced to imprisonment for the offences of trafficking in a dangerous drug, burglary, theft, etc.
