PSWCI inmate found dead

     An inmate of Pak Sha Wan Correctional Institution (PSWCI) was found by staff hanging in a dormitory from a bed sheet at around 3.30am today (August 17).

     First aid was immediately given at the scene. The 42-year-old inmate was then sent to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital, where he was certified dead at 4.30am.

     Police and the inmate's family have been informed of the incident and an inquest will be held by the Coroner's Court.

     The inmate, surnamed Lam, was convicted of possession of a Part I Poison and sentenced to imprisonment for four months. He was admitted to PSWCI in June 2010.
