Correctional staff successfully prevent smuggling of dangerous drugs

Correctional Services staff seized two pieces of mail containing suspected dangerous drugs posted to inmates of Hei Ling Chau Correctional Institution yesterday (February 20).

"The department is committed to maintaining a drug-free environment for all people in its custody. It will take every measure to prevent the smuggling of dangerous drugs into correctional institutions and to eradicate their presence there," a department spokesperson said today (February 21).

The case was reported to the Police for further investigation.

There were 125 seizures of suspected dangerous drugs last year and 15 as at today this year, with the seizures mainly in the reception centres.
