Officers of the Correctional Services Department (CSD) today (March 15) found suspected dangerous drugs in the stool of an inmate remanded in Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre.
The inmate, aged 57, was admitted to the centre yesterday (March 14) for the offences of trafficking in dangerous drugs and theft. He was found to have a total of eight tablets of suspected dangerous drugs wrapped in plastic in three of his excretions today.
The CSD spokesperson said, "The department takes every measure to prevent the smuggling of dangerous drugs into correctional institutions and to eradicate their presence there. We are committed to maintaining a drug-free environment for all people in its custody."
The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.
There have been 39 seizures of dangerous drugs so far this year. Most seizures were made in reception centres.
