Correctional staff found suspected dangerous drugs outside Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre (LCKRC) during a security check yesterday afternoon (July 25).
A plastic bag of suspected dangerous drugs was found left unattended on the roadside outside the Visit Registration Unit of LCKRC.
The case was reported to the Police for investigation.
"With effective mechanisms to collect intelligence, the department takes every measure to stop the introduction of dangerous drugs into correctional institutions and to eradicate their presence there. We are committed to maintaining a drug-free environment for all people in its custody," a CSD spokesperson said.
There have been 97 seizures of dangerous drugs this year to date. Most seizures were made in reception centres.
