Correctional officers found a ring inside the body of a remand inmate during a security check at Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre.
The 32-year-old inmate was remanded to the centre on January 3 for a burglary offence. Based on security inspections and intelligence, he was suspected to have swallowed a foreign object. He was then placed under observation in an isolation cell in the Centre Hospital.
At about 10am on January 4, correctional officers found the ring discharged by the remand inmate.
The case was reported to the Police for further investigation.
