Correctional officers stopped a fight involving two inmates at Stanley Prison today (January 18).
At about 12.10pm, the officers found the two inmates engaged in a fight in a workshop. One of them, aged 54 attacked another inmate, aged 60, with a ball pen. They immediately stopped the fight and separated the two men.
Both were sent to the centre hospital for treatment. The 60-year-old inmate sustained minor head injuries and was transferred to a government hospital for further treatment. Both were in conscious condition.
The case was reported to the Police for investigation.
The 54-year-old inmate is serving a sentence for offences of manslaughter and wounding, while the other inmate for robbery.
