Correctional officers at Tai Lam Centre for Women intercepted 10 small packs of suspected dangerous drugs wrapped in plastic today (March 19).
At about 2.10pm during a security check, officers found that the suspected dangerous drugs had been discharged by a 55-year-old inmate remanded for the offence of possession of a dangerous drug.
The case was reported to the Police.
A spokesperson for the department said, "The department takes every measure to stop the introduction of dangerous drugs or unauthorised articles into correctional institutions in order to maintain good order and discipline in a drug-free environment for all people in its custody."
There have been 21 seizures of dangerous drugs to date this year. Most of the seizures were made in reception centres.
