Correctional Services officers seized a small quantity of suspected dangerous drugs at the visitors' waiting room inside Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre today (March 30).
At about 9.30am, the on-duty officer found a small plastic bag containing about 0.78 grams of suspected dangerous drugs on the floor inside the visitors' waiting room.
The case was reported to the Police for investigation.
A spokesperson for the department said, "The department takes every measure to stop the introduction of dangerous drugs or unauthorised articles into correctional institutions in order to maintain good order and discipline in a drug-free environment for all people in its custody."
There have been 25 seizures of dangerous drugs to date this year. Most of the seizures were made in reception centres.
