CSD officers intercept suspected dangerous drugs smuggled into institution

Correctional Services Officers at Tai Lam Centre for Women seized a small quantity of suspected dangerous drugs from the personal belongings of an inmate who was sentenced to receive treatment in a drug addiction treatment centre today (April 2).

At about 4.20pm, the 28-year-old female inmate, who had been convicted for possession of dangerous drugs, was sent to the Centre after a court hearing. The officers discovered in her handbag two small paper bags containing a small quantity of white powder suspected to be dangerous drugs during security check.

The case was reported to the Police for further investigation.

A spokesperson for the Correctional Services Department said, "The department takes every measure to stop the introduction of dangerous drugs into correctional institutions in order to maintain good order and discipline in a drug-free environment for all people in its custody."
