Correctional Services Officers at Lai King Correctional Institution seized a small quantity of suspected dangerous drugs from the personal belongings of a remand inmate yesterday (April 18).
At about 7.30pm during a security check, the officers discovered two small packs of suspected dangerous drugs in the personal belongings of the 19-year-old female inmate, who had been remanded on a charge of trafficking in dangerous drugs.
The case was reported to the Police for further investigation.
A spokesperson for the Correctional Services Department said, "The department takes every measure to stop the introduction of dangerous drugs into correctional institutions in order to maintain good order and discipline in a drug-free environment for all people in its custody."
There have been 34 seizures of suspected dangerous drugs so far this year. Most of the seizures were made in reception centres.
