An officer was injured by a suspected assailant when he was investigating an assault case in Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre today (June 26). Two other support officers also sustained minor injury in the incident.
It is suspected that a 30-year-old male remand inmate had punched another inmate on his back inside the toilet of the centre's hospital at about 8.15am. During investigation, the suspected assailant kicked one of the officers. He was eventually subdued by reinforcement staff with the use of OC foam. Three officers and two inmates sustained minor injuries in the incident and were treated by the institutional medical officer.
The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.
The attacker was on remand for an offence of possession of a dangerous drug.
