Correctional officers stop assault by inmate

     Correctional Services officers stopped an assault by an inmate on another person in Shek Pik Prison today (August 5).

      At about 1.20pm, a 27-year-old male inmate suddenly attacked another male inmate, aged 33, with fists and feet in the garment workshop. The officers immediately stopped the assault and subdued the assailant. The victim was conscious at the time.

      Both inmates were sent to the centre hospital for examination and treatment. The victim sustained multiple injuries over the body. After receiving preliminary treatment, the victim was transferred to a public hospital for further examination. The assailant sustained no injury.

      The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.

      The assailant was serving sentence for an offence of robbery, while the victim was serving sentence for an offence of conspiracy to defraud.
