Correctional officers stop smuggling of suspected dangerous drugs into reception centre

     Correctional officers seized a small quantity of suspected dangerous drugs from private belongings of an inmate in Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre yesterday (October 18).

     At about 6.30pm, the officers found one tablet of suspected dangerous drugs from the private belongings of the 47-year-old newly admitted male inmate during the admission security check.

     The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.

     A spokesperson for the department said, "The department takes every measure to stop the introduction of dangerous drugs or unauthorised articles into correctional institutions in order to maintain good order and discipline in a drug-free environment for all people in its custody."

     The inmate was convicted of an offence of breach of condition of stay.
